OFFIS Institut für Informatik Oldenburg

"OFFIS" stands for “Oldenburger Forschungs - und Entwicklungsinstitut für Informatik Werkzeuge and System” or “Oldenburg Research and Development institute for Computer science tools and Systems”. OFFIS was founded on July 6th, 1991 by the state of Lower Saxony, the Oldenburg University and professors in the Computer Sciences department. As an institute of the university, OFFIS researches new forms of computer-aided information processing in hardware and software systems and converts the results into near-application developments.
